American Horror Story Coven “The Seven Wonders”

The Seven Wonders

Interesting beginning, Stevie Nicks walking around in a top hat singing.  The four girls come down the stairs, Stevie Nicks wishes them luck and signs herself out the door.

All the girls could do most of the tasks. When they left their bodies, Queenie went straight back to the chicken place.  Queenie was the first back in her body, too.  Madison was in a musical (shallow), Zoe kept breaking up with Kyle (eye roll, she’s obsessed with a zombie), and Misty kept reviving a dead frog in science class…she turned to dust.  Cordelia tried to bring her back before she turned to dust, but Misty didn’t make it.  I guess if you can’t dissect a dead frog in science class, you really shouldn’t be Supreme.  None of these girls are Supreme material, of the three left Queenie is the best bet.

Then Zoe got impaled by a fence.  Queenie couldn’t bring Zoe back, so she loses.   Madison refused to bring her back, and brought a fly back instead.  “crown me or kiss off,” she said.  Myrtle starts to realize the Supreme is Cordelia.  She convinces Cordelia to perform the Seven Wonders.  Now that Cordelia is out from behind her mother’s shadow, she comes into her own power.  Her mother held her back.

After Cordelia gets done with 5 of the 7 wonders, Madison wants back in the competition.  Madison fails to do the divination, of course making a huge drama tantrum.  Kyle attacks Madison, while Cordelia brings Zoe back to life.  Hehehe, Kyle asks why they were brought back and Zoe wasn’t, and Madison says she did it because she loved him.  Kyle said, “You’re not that good of an actress.”  Kyle kills Madison as Zoe rises and Cordelia collapses.

The butler shows up and wants to bury Madison’s body.  Cordelia gets up in a perfect state of health.  She can see and has no scars.  Then she goes on TV to repopulate the coven, calling to all the young witches.  Myrtle decides she needs to die because she’s killed other witches and she needs to be burned at the stake.  Otherwise she feels Cordelia will be a hypocrite.  Cordelia tried to changer her mind, saying Myrtle was her true mother.  However, Myrtle said her life’s purpose was done, Cordelia was Supreme.  So they marched to…hmm it looked like a desert, but they are in New Orleans…anyway it had a stake and was surrounded by sand.  Myrtle had a long red dress on, and was doused with gasoline.  After a few words, including Myrtle saying how proud she was of Cordelia, Cordelia tearfully lit her on fire.

Fiona planted that vision so Cordelia would kill Axeman and find the Supreme.  She didn’t count on Cordelia becoming the next Supreme, she planned on killing the Supreme.  Instead she died in her daughter’s arms.  Her hell was Axeman’s cabin and being with him.  Now that she’s dead she wants her daughter.  And…Papa Legba shows up.

With a line around the block, they bring in a ton of new girls into the coven.  Cordelia has Queenie and Zoe as her council, and it begins anew.

Being Human: Lil’ Smokie

Lil’ Smokie:

Being Human - Season 4

The episode begins with Sally reliving her death with a twist, Sally yells “Not again!” and Donna comes from around the corner and crushes Danny’s head.  Donna says, “Whoo that felt good didn’t it?  I’m a little flushed.  We make a good team don’t we?”  Then you see Sally sitting, eyes closed,  at the table with a human Josh with Aidan in the background.  She was reading the book, which changes.  Aidan hates the book and tells Sally to get rid of it.  Sally says she needs it to figure out what she is now.

Aidan was kidnapped by Kenny’s thugs. He gave him the tour of the new vampire kingdom.  Josh started freaking out at the hospital, but then rescued a patient seizing.  Sally found a spell to bring her door back, but then it disappeared.  She tried doing the spell while it was disappearing.  All that showed up was Donna.  It was a trick by Donna, the more she practices magic, the stronger Donna gets.  Sally burned the book and Donna an dit seemed to burn into her.  The book seems to be inside her now.

Meanwhile, Kenny shows Aidan the live blood club he started.  Kenny asks Aidan to help run the vampire community.  Aidan, of course, wants no part of it.  Kenny seemed surprised, clearly he doesn’t get Aidan at all.

Josh freaks out, leaves work, starts jogging, sees another guy run past him and starts to chase him while his eyes become the wolf.  He’s having sensory overload and totally loses his mind.  He left the hospital, goes home, and says he has to go.  He doesn’t tell Nora anything.  Nora and Sally discuss how they don’t know what to do about Josh.

Kenny shows his true face to some girl before he feeds off her, turns out he didn’t completely heal.

While Josh is running, two guys start chasing him.  Vampires, they try feeding off him, and he transforms into some kind of wolfman.  I guess they thought since it wasn’t a full moon that he was safe to attack.  He calls Aidan.  He keeps saying he can’t go home.  He told Aidan what happened, and Aidan said that didn’t make sense because even pure breed werewolves can’t turn at will.

Meanwhile, Sally is helping Nora get rid of her burn scars on her stomach.  After Sally said the spell, she disappeared back into the past.  She sees the little girl she saw before.  It seems she died in their house or something.  She saw the girl at a party in the 1970’s passing out lil’ smokies to adults.

Kenny admits to Aidan in the woods that he sent those two vampires to kill Josh.  That backfired.  He said he thought with Josh gone he hoped Aidan would accept him. Meanwhile Kenny gets a call and they have to leave.

Josh talked to Nora and is afraid the wolf is taking over.  She calmed him down, but he quit his job.  He couldn’t be around that environment.

Kenny’s blood club was attacked, vampires were killed.

Nora’s scars disappears and Sally tells her about what she saw.  Then Nora’s wall paper drops down and a message appears “Don’t leave me!”  Sally realizes she’s supposed to help the little girl.

Kenny and Aidan watch video of the vampire killings at the club, and see that it’s Suzanna…the end.

This is getting interesting.  I can’t wait to see what will happen next week.  Who is this little girl?  What will happen with Suzanna and Aidan?  And Kenny?  And Josh?  Can’t wait to find out!

Stolen by Kelley Armstrong

Since Bitten is now on SyFy, I’ve decided to finish reading the series.  I got Bitten from a book club, and they only had one other book from the series No Humans Involved.  I bought them both, but realized that there were a whole lot of books in between the two.  I didn’t feel like I could read No Humans Involved, it was just the wrong order.  So I decided I would find them later and I put the book on my bookshelf.  Now that the series is on SyFy, I’m trying to read the books I’m missing.  So far I’ve found Stolen and Dime Store Magic available online.  I prefer an actual book with pages I can touch and smell, but I want to read them now I’m just not that patient.

So Stolen is again from the point of view of Elena Michaels.  I like her much better in this book, she’s stopped blaming Clay for everything that is wrong in her life…well mostly.  It starts out with Elena on a plane going to meet someone about werewolf evidence in Pittsburgh.  She waits in a place called Tea for Two.  After waiting a half hour outside of this tea place, Paige Winterbourne shows up.  She wrote down the wrong time, and she can’t talk to Elena until Paige’s Aunt Ruth is with them.  So she invites Elena to come to their hotel room.  It sounded fishy, but since Elena is a big bad werewolf, she decided to go.

Paige starts showing her pictures of different people that Elena didn’t know.  Then she comes out with something along the lines of “We know you’re here to protect your pack.”  She gives Elena her bio, about Clay biting her, about growing up in foster homes and losing her parents.  Elena grabs her by the throat, just then Paige’s aunt walks in.  Very calmly Ruth asks Elena to let her explain.  Paige and Ruth are witches and there are…other things too.  Elena deals with this piece of information like everything else, we’ll just pretend nothing else exists.  She doesn’t want to deal with it.  There is a meeting of the otherworldly kind, and they want her to tell Jeremy because their kind are being kidnapped by some wealthy computer guy and some scientists.  They wanted to warn the werewolves and invite them to join.

Elena goes back to her hotel and decides not to call Jeremy right away.  Instead she went for a run at 3am.  She realized she was being followed.  She threw them off her trail and started following them.  While she thought they were working for the witches, it turned out they were trying to capture them all.  Elena killed one and gathered the witches in one of the rooms with the dead body.  The witches turned out to be very preachy, do no harm types.  However, a half-demon named Xavier showed up, he was fun.  Unfortunately he worked for the computer guy.  Elena got the witches out of there and they hid with the help of an invisibility spell.

Jeremy decides to meet her in another city and drive to the meeting, Clay was out of town on another pack issue and Antonio and Nick were in California or something.  Clay, naturally, hauls ass to get to them.  Elena and Jeremy went to the first meeting, and met the vampire, Cassandra, the half-demon Adam, the shaman, Kenneth, and Paige and Ruth.  Ruth wanted a nice and fluffy resolution to the problem.  The next day, with Clay they showed up to the meeting with a garbage bag.  What was in the garbage bag?  A head, they had killed some of the men abducting people that had tried to snatch one of them.  They decided to go home.

They had two cars, so naturally Elena was kidnapped when she was racing Clay home.  Most of the story is about Elena’s captivity.  The scientists want to further human kind by taking the best features of the otherworldly kind and enhancing humanity with those traits.  The super strength of the werewolf, the longevity of a vampire, etc.  They were locked in cells in an underground facility.  Xavier, the half-demon was also a captive, though he also worked for them.  There was a Voudoun priest, another half-demon named Leah, a little girl witch named Savannah who’s mother had been killed, a mutt named Patrick Lake, and a man who could alter his appearance named Armen Haig.

Well all kinds of craziness ensued.  There was a woman named Sondra Bauer who was some heiress who thought her problems were worse than anyone alive.  She was bored.  So bored that she stole Elena’s saliva and injected herself with it.  The computer guy hunted and killed them, and tried to get Elena to kill some of the others.  He tried to convince her Clay was dead, meanwhile Paige was trying to help Elena telepathically with Jeremy.  Clay of course was not happy about it.  Cassandra the vampire tried to get Clay to sleep with her.  She had no idea what she was dealing with.  He gave her ten seconds to get away from him before he ripped her head off.  She left.  Elena got into Clay’s head at the time and saw the whole thing.  Ruth was also captured.  She ended up helping Savannah the 12 yr old witch.

Clay had defied Jeremy and went to try and rescue Elena on his own, he killed a few guards and they got a picture of him.  This is how they convinced Elena he was dead.  It was good for her, she takes him for granted.  She was forced to admit to herself how much he means to her.  She realized she had to come escape ASAP before they killed Clay (she found out later that he was not dead).  Sondra Bauer was placed in a cell next to her, after Elena worked to save her life.  After a lot of convincing, Bauer agreed to escaping together.  It never happened though, all the sudden the doors opened on their own.  Elena, Bauer, and Savannah’s door.  There was all kinds of chaos, light bulbs dropped from the light fixtures, guards shooting each other, electrical system shutting down, and elevator going haywire.  Elena escaped alone.  She found Clay after running for awhile and they eventually drove off.  All this time they never called in Antonio and Nick, why?  Oh and Xavier had already escaped, I think he was my favorite character in this one.

Anyway, then they met up with Jeremy and the rest of the otherworldly crew to plan a hostile take over.  Everyone had to die, except the otherworldly people.  So they split into teams: Elena, Clay, Adam, and Paige were the first team to go in and kill all the guards, then Jeremy, Kenneth, and Cassandra would come in afterwards for the clean up.  Not that they cleaned up the bodies, just any evidence linking to their existence.  They made it look like a drug cartel or something.  However, Leah the half-demon had tried to make it look like Savannah was evil and was harming everyone, meanwhile it was her.  She was working with the sorcerer Katzen.  Elena never met him, but heard him.  It turned out to be the harmless Voudoun priest.  For some reason Katzen and Leah wanted Savannah.  Paige had a showdown with Katzen and they all killed him.  Leah disappeared, and Savannah was to be raised by Paige.  There was also a new addition, a vampire.  He seemed to have a grudge against Cassandra, so Elena left him out to sic her.  Then Clay and Elena went after Ty Winslow.  He had tortured Elena while she was captive.  It was long and drawn out but they killed him.

That was the gist of the book.  It was pretty good, though it got mixed reviews.  I liked it.  I’ll put a review of Bitten up too, and the rest when I’m done with the series.  Happy reading!

American Horror Story Coven “Go to Hell”

Fiona is trying to find the next Supreme, so she is forcing all the girls to preform the “Seven Wonders or die trying.”  Queenie is on to her, she figures once Fiona finds the next Supreme, she’ll kill her.  I believe that was what she and Marie were talking about before they killed Nan.  One of the girls is making her sick.  Cordelia stabbed her eyes and didn’t get her second sight back.

Queenie found Marie’s blood and heard her voice, so she tried to ask Papa Legba.  She went to her hell, which was the chicken place she used to work at.  Delphine apparently chopped Marie to bits and scattered her bits all over town.  Queenie continued her talk with Papa Legba about Marie in her room.  Then Delphine was giving tours of her old house from the 1800’s.  That’s where Queenie found her.

Queenie tried one more time to help Delphine, but she didn’t want any part of it.  So Queenie did something.

Fiona actually had a moment of being a half decent mother to Cordelia.  She explained that Cordelia could never lose her power, it’s all inside her.  She even said she couldn’t take credit for it, that it was all Cordelia.  She then gave her a necklace.  As soon as her mother put it on her, Cordelia saw the bodies of all the girls apparently murdered throughout the house, including herself.  Her mother was standing over her body and ripped the necklace off her dead body.  Fiona had killed them all, including Cordelia, in her vision.  Cordelia got her powers back.

Cordelia goes to warn her mother’s boyfriend of her visions, that her mother is just using him and isn’t going away with him.  She told him Fiona is incapable of loving anyone but herself.  Can’t really argue against that, it’s true.  Cordelia was looking for  Misty.  When she found her, she got Queenie to help her get Misty out of the tomb.  She wasn’t breathing, and then she suddenly jumped up and gasped for air.

Myrtle was talking to Madison about who would entomb Misty when Zoe showed up with her zombie boy.  Kyle had killed someone in Florida, so they came back.  Zoe brought the man back to life.  So she said, “Clearly I am the next Supreme.”  She said that’s why they came back.  Then Cordelia, Queenie, and Misty walk in.  Misty kicked Madison’s ass.  Queenie was loving that show.  Then the axe man thought he was going to kill them all.  Naturally that didn’t work.  Cordelia touched the blood on the floor and found that it was her mother’s blood.

Fiona went to talk to the axe man, really she went to have sex with him.  He found a confirmation for a flight she was taking, which proved Cordelia was right.  She admitted she couldn’t love anything.  He flipped out.  She was in the middle of a monologue with her back turned and he attacked her and apparently fed her to some alligators in the swamp.  Everyone had a hand in killing him.

Papa Legba took Delphine and Marie, he said it was hell.  Had Marie torture Delphine’s children in front of her.  It looked like Delphine’s attic, where she murdered her slaves.  Apparently Queenie made a deal with Papa Legba and gave him Delphine.

Cordelia announced that they have to find a new Supreme, so they will all have to do the Seven Wonders as her mother had planned.  They were standing in front of a portrait of Fiona which she had just had painted.

Sorry about the lack of pictures, I couldn’t find many for this weeks episode.  Well it should be interesting to see who the next Supreme is, hell it could be Cordelia.  Clearly she doesn’t know everything about her power.  We’ll find out next week.

Paranormal Witness “Wolf Pack”

I watched a rerun of Paranormal witness a few hours ago, and it was pretty interesting.   A man was injured at work, so the family moved to Palmyra, Maine.  It was a farm house with forest all around the house.  The man and his wife were sitting on the porch and saw some strange lights in a tree.  The lights were pulsating, so they called their son out to look at it and see if he knew what they were from.  He said he had never seen anything like it and said it seemed to change and grow brighter as they paid more attention to it.  Since they didn’t know what it was, the man and his son went to investigate it.  The man was a life long hunter, so he was used to wild animals.  When they got close to the tree, they could no longer see the lights.  I should mention that his wife made him keep his guns in the barn, they weren’t allowed in the house.  I’d bet she makes him keep the guns in the house now.  He and his son split up thinking it might be a hunter.  They were unnerved by how very quiet it was.  He said you could hear a pin drop, not one animal was making a sound and it was weird.  They looked around and found nothing.

Another day their daughter’s boyfriend came to visit (the son didn’t live with them).  The daughter and her boyfriend went for a walk with their beagles.  They unleashed the hounds and they took off as if they smelled something.  The two ran after the dogs and were led to a big perfectly circular hole in the side of a hill.  The boyfriend wanted to investigate it, but the daughter had a weird feeling and wanted to go back to the house.

Another night the man and his wife were sitting on the porch again.  The both commented, again, how silent it was that night.  There were no animal sounds, and they were in farm country and near the forest.  The husband all the sudden started to freak.  He started trying to pull his wife in the house.  She was like, “what is wrong with you?”  He was terrified and only knew something was out in the darkness watching them.  They heard rustling in the field and she turned a flashlight toward the sound.  It was a giant wolf-like creature with glowing eyes.  They scanned around the house and there were five of them.  They hurried in the house as the creatures started growling.  They locked the doors and the wife ran up to check on her daughter who was sleeping.  She closed all the windows.  She realized she didn’t hear their two beagles barking.  Since beagles are hunting dogs, that was weird.   She was afraid one of them got in.  She kept calling the dogs, who usually ran to them when they were called.  After searching a few rooms, she finally found them hiding.  Odd behavior from a beagle.

Meanwhile her husband was trying to figure out how to get his wife and daughter out of there.  He had a leg injury, so he couldn’t run.  He looked out the window and saw that the wolf-creatures had backed away from the house.   He decided (without telling anyone) to try to get the truck up to the house so his wife and daughter could jump in and they could drive away.  He hobbled over to the truck, which was about 30 ft. away.   He set off the motion detector on the spotlights above the car and dropped his keys…and attracted the attention of the pack.  He bent down to pick up his keys when he heard a growl, one of them had come to get him.  It came to attack him and then “it bolted.”   He went back to the house as fast as he could.  His wife had come downstairs looking for him.  Naturally he got yelled at for going outside.

His wife went back upstairs to stay with her sleeping daughter, afraid that one might jump through the window (I’d do the same thing).  Her husband gets another bright idea.  He’s going to try to get to the barn (which is further away than the truck).  He realized that it was the light that kept them away.  For some reason they couldn’t stand it.  He was in more pain from his last run in with the wolves, that by the way run on two legs.  He decided he would just set the motion detector off again and then run to the barn.  Yeah sure, with a bad leg.  He frantically tried to set the motion detector off and finally did.  However, he was surrounded and couldn’t get to the barn.  On top of that, he wouldn’t get much time to run back to the house, the motion lights would turn off quickly.   They were growling furiously, this stunt seemed to really piss them off.  His wife could hear the growling and came down to look for him.  He made it into the house, but they were pissed at his attempt to escape.  The two of them ran upstairs and woke their daughter.  They all went into one room and turned the light out, hoping they would think they weren’t in that room I guess.  They got an ax and some knives and stayed in that room the whole night.  They saw shadows of the wolves passing in front of the windows and heard them growling on the other side of the wall.  They seemed to jump on the roof as well.  When the morning came, the creatures were gone.  They left long tufts of hair and giant foot prints…bipedal footprints.

It’s a bizarre story, but it’s not an isolated story.  Others have described the same thing.  This man was a hunter, so there is no way it was misidentification.  The only logical theory I’ve heard to explain this is Dire wolves.  They are supposedly extinct and were basically giant wolves that existed at the same time as Wooly Mammoths.  Some believe they could have developed the ability to walk on two legs in order to have greater access to food.  This sounds logical, however it still leaves two issues.  What were the lights all about?  Why did all the animals, including the beagles, hide from these things?  As far as I know, when a bear or lion is around other animals don’t go in hiding.  Especially the smaller animals that a large predator wouldn’t bother with.

Being Human “That time of the month”

Suzanna couldn’t go in Aidan’s house even after he invited her in.  Sally came back and thinks she can help Josh with her power.  Nora is very skeptical and frightened to try.  We find out Suzanna was turned by Bishop and was meant to be a gift for Aidan.  Not a big surprise there.  Unfortunately she refused to let Bishop help her as a vampire, and refused to feed.  I kinda liked Bishop, he was a vampire and didn’t pretend to be anything else.

Sally got transported to another dimension again and found Donna’s magick book burried in the dirt.  The pages were blank until she laid her hands on it.

Aidan told Suzanna that he abandoned Isaac and wasn’t brave enough to check up on Isaac to see if he was okay.  She told him that he died a grandfather.  Meanwhile Sally pops in with the book.  After talking about Suzanna, thinking she couldn’t see her, she tells Aidan they have to go help Josh.  Aidan is more than skeptical about the book and HATES the idea of using it.  He’s afraid something will go wrong and they’ll lose Josh for good.  Nora is just desperate to try anything at this point.   The spell is based on the moon, which makes sense for a werewolf.  They need the blood of a woman on her period.  Aidan looks at Nora and says “Um…I can smell it.”  Nora freaks out because Aidan could always tell when it was her time of the month.  I’m not sure why she was surprised, he’s a vampire of course he can smell the blood.  Aidan was fully grossed out, it was cute.  They needed to do the spell during a waning moon, which just happened to be that night.  There was a kiddie pool filled with water, Nora poured her special blood into the kiddie pool while Sally recited probably a spell in Latin and a magickal knife appeared.   Sally went to Josh and said the dagger had to go through his heart.  Nora decides she should be the one to do it, but Josh-wolf starts to freak and Aidan ends up doing it.  “Please tell me I didn’t just kill my best friend.”  Then Sally disappears…again.  The spell wasn’t finished and she ends up going back in time…to their house, when the guys first moved in.  They can’t see her, including the past Sally.

Aidan starts apologizing to Josh-wolf, when Josh’s hand pops through the wolf’s mouth.  Aidan yells for Nora and cuts Josh out of the wolf carcas.  Josh is fully dazed and confused, and something is clearly wrong with him.  Nora is just happy he’s out and tries to get him all kinds of things, but he won’t eat or anything.  Then Sally shows up and tells Nora she wasn’t done with the spell and they shouldn’t have touched him (meanwhile she was gone for a long time).  Sally starts to think Aidan was right and she should have waited.

Aidan goes to visit Suzanna at the hotel she’s staying at.  She answers the door hiding a cross stake behind her back.  She tells him their relationship is in the past, though Aidan doesn’t really want to hear that.  She tells him he has a life and she’s happy for him.  When he left, Suzanna flashes back to Bishop telling her she was a gift for Aidan if she listened to him.  She lies and tells him Bishop was mean to her.  What she flashes back to is being overcome by hunger and attacking a child in the woods, which turns out to be their son Isaac.  She killed him, so Bishop tells her to go away.  He said that it would destroy Aidan to know what happened to his son and he would never accept the killer of his only son.  That’s why Bishop never brought her to him.  After the flashback, she whips herself on her bare back, punishing herself for her son’s death.  Had she listened to Bishop and let him help her, she wouldn’t have murdered her son.  Aidan goes home to find Kat in his bed.  He looks upset that she’s there, and seemed to not want to deal with her.  Then he ends up telling her that he loves her.  Clearly he still has feelings for Suzanna, he has thought of her a lot throughout the show.  Somehow I don’t think this is the end of the story with Suzanna.

Josh says he just wants to sleep, so everyone leaves his room and he starts to freak a little.  He gets up to open a window and looks in the mirror to see the wolf’s eyes.  It seems Josh and the wolf have merged or something.  I guess we’ll see next Monday.
